Collins - Signature Vintage Axe Wool Snap Back Hat

The Collins Axe Company was founded in 1826 in Canton, Connecticut by Samuel W. and David C. Collins and soon became the world's leading axe manufacturer.  With this success emerged Collinsville, a company-built village complete with employee housing, stores, bank, and church. 
 
In 1966 the facilities in Collinsville were sold to the Mann Edge Tool Co. of Lewistown, Pa.  Three other factories were sold to the Stanley Tool Company.  Although the Collins factory is no longer in operation, the Collinsville historic district remains an important part of Canton’s economy.

In a highly competitive turn of the century market of over 400 axe makers, companies used catchy names, beautiful artwork and forged high-quality axes that people wanted to own. Names like "True American", "Black Raven", "Forest King", and Cock of the Woods" created excitement and gave beauty and persona to the axe.
